Tasks
- Task 7.1: International Curriculum Option of Doctoral Studies in Networked, Embedded, and Hybrid Control Systems for Complex, Distributed Heterogeneous Systems [UNIPI, CNRS, EECI, KTH, RUB, TUDELFT, UNIVAQ, UVA].
The International Curriculum Option is an Inter-university Convention initiative among European Universities to provide a common cultural and academic substrate in the field by establishing a network of institutions that impose common supplementary criteria for the participating PhD students, in addition to those of their already-existing doctoral programs. The curriculum has become an integral part of the activities of the European Embedded Control Institute (EECI).
- Task 7.2: PhD Schools [UNITN, KTH, TUE, TUDELFT, RUB, RUG, UNIVAQ, CNR]
The involved young researchers will participate to intensive courses at an international level, called Summer Schools, and organized by network partners. Two Schools will be organized in periods not conflicting with local training activities. These will be characterized by their interdisciplinary approach and will combine training on both methodological and applied topics.
- Task 7.3: Graduate program [EECI, CNRS, UNIVAQ, RUG, TUDELFT, UNICA]
- Graduate Schools on Control (GSC) : Organized each year, it consists in about 14 independent modules for young researchers and can also be beneficial to experienced researchers willing to discover a new research area in a condense way. One world-class speaker will be invited to teach each module.
- Seminars : G iven by outstanding invited scientists from outside the network.
- Graduate School of ICT : The objective is to start and develop a regular permanent school around topics of major interests in HYCON2. The Graduate school will be established in L’Aquila and will be based heavily on the activity carried out by the Center of Excellence DEWS.
- Joint degree programs : The aim is to develop a joint degree program at master level. In particular, the France-Italy framework agreement for ICT will be analyzed to see whether a joint Master program involving two (or more) Universities with degrees awarded by both Institutions can be established.
- Task 7.4: Undergraduate activities [CNRS, ETHZ, UNIVAQ]
The goal is to share the teaching experience of HYCON2 partners at the undergraduate level in the area of information and communication technology and study the possibility to provide access to related resources and disseminate sets of learning materials. We also propose to offer a group of talented undergraduate engineering students the opportunity to gain research experience by providing research support unities and increase undergraduate students motivation for graduate study and strengthens their qualifications through challenging research projects.
- Task 7.5: Awards, Grants and Visiting positions [EECI, CNRS, CNR, TUDELFT]
The objective is to support and motivate junior scientists to plan and implement challenging projects in the area of Networked and Complex Control Systems. To this end, we propose the following initiatives :
- Recruitment of Visiting Scientists (VS)
- PhD project contest
- Master and PhD Award
