Gilney Damm is Associate Professor at the Evry-Val d'Essonne University. He is member of the IBISC Laboratory in collaboration with the Laboratoire des Signaux et Systemes L2S - CNRS/Supelec. He is also a European Embedded Control Institute (EECI) Member. He received his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, on “Control and Observers Applied to Nonlinear Systems with Time-Varying Unknown Parameters” in December 2010; his Ph.D. Thesis at the L2S CNRS/Supelec/Université Paris Sud (Paris XI-Orsay) in November 2001 on the “Contributions on the stabilization of power generators”; his Master in Science Thesis at COPPE - Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ) in September 1997 on “Control systems: Application of a Global Frequency Estimator to Sinusoidal Noise Cancellation” and his Bachelor in Electronic Engineer at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University in February 1995.
He is Work-Package Leader and responsible for the Industrial Advisory Board of HYCON2 since 2010. He has an important activity in the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) ICT LABS from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology – EIT, where he is leader of the ne Smart Energy Summer School, and partner on the Smart Energy Virtual Lab. He is also the coordinator of the project WINPOWER from the French national research agency (ANR) about the integration of wind and solar based electrical power by a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) multipoint network. In the same way, he is co-leader of the new national research forum on SmartGrids from the national networks (GDR MACS, SEEDS and ISIS) of the French national research center CNRS. He has also been member of the research team: Lancement Assisté par Aéroporteur Automatique – L3AR (Automatic airlaunch for nano-satellites) on the French project PERSEUS carried out by the CNES (French space agency). He receives the French research excellence grant (Prime d’Encadrement Doctoral) since 2008.
His research interests are on the nonlinear and adaptive control and observers applied to power systems (SmartGrids) and to aerial and aerospace vehicles.
Gilney Damm is Associated Editor of the European Journal of Control since January 2010.
